Werner Engineering proudly offers students from Mackay and surrounding regions the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a variety of trades. In our work experience program, students work closely with our skilled team across multiple fields, including boiler making, fitting, machining, CNC machining, drafting, administration and stores/warehousing. This first-hand exposure helps them gain practical insights, explore their interests and choose the trade they may want to pursue in the future.
We also support students who feel that traditional schooling is not the right fit and are eager to begin their careers early. For these individuals, we offer a two to three-week work experience opportunity before they officially commit to an apprenticeship with us. This allows them to understand the work environment, get hands-on practice and decide if a career with Werner Engineering is the right path, ensuring a smooth transition before signing contracts with relevant departments.
