At Werner Engineering Mackay we support the surrounding community, especially during the Christmas period when it can be needed most due to the pressure applied on families to deliver a picture-perfect Christmas, and also those who find themselves in hardship. For over 10 years now, our employees have participated in our annual Christmas charity donation, contributing essential items to support individuals and families facing difficult times.
Each year we ask our team to bring in a range of donations, including clothing (for adults and children), blankets, non-perishable foods, toys in excellent condition and everyday essentials for men, women and children in need. Additionally, the company purchases new toys for infants and children of all ages to ensure our contribution has a meaningful impact.
Our donations are directed towards local charities that provide support to vulnerable individuals in the Mackay region. One of the primary recipients is the Mackay Women’s Shelter, which offers a safe space for women and children in crisis. We also regularly donate to the Men’s Shelter, ensuring men experiencing hardship receive the care and support they need.
In 2023, we started to extend our support to Chances House, which provides a safe and supportive environment where individuals transition from homelessness to independence. Additionally, we have partnered with MARS Pet Rescue, a Mackay-based charity dedicated to giving animals a second chance at a happy life. Many of our employees regularly go the extra mile, donating pet food, kitty litter and other essentials to support foster families caring for animals until they find their new homes.
We value the input from our employees and ask for recommendations on which charities to support in the months leading up to Christmas. Each year we carefully select which organisations to assist, usually two to three. This year, in addition to our contributions, we are asking for the community’s help in donating items such as children’s toys, books and school supplies – things that will make a difference in a child’s life as they prepare for the year ahead.
