Born in 1961 in Chinchilla, Queensland, Darryl’s life took a challenging turn when he lost his father at a young age, stepping up to support his mother and siblings. This early responsibility instilled a deep sense of resilience and an uncompromising work ethic that would define his career. At the age of 21, Darryl commenced working at Werner Engineering, putting in 20 years of hard labour and developing an unshakable passion for machining, fitting and boiler making.
Every single aspect of the company became Darryl’s everything. In 2004 he took the opportunity to purchase the company from its original owner after discovering it was for sale.
Within eight months of Darryl acquiring Werner Engineering, the mining boom struck, and demand for the company’s services skyrocketed. Darryl’s love, dedication and tireless commitment, together with the support and dedication of his team, helped navigate the business through this period of immense growth.
Despite the prodigious success, Darryl never slowed down.
He had not taken a single day off before buying the company and even afterwards, his dedication never vacillated or waned. And thus, Darryl Stark expanded operations at Werner Engineering to keep pace with the ever-increasing demand for reliable service and built a new facility at 1 Silverton Court in 2012 to support the company’s rapid growth.
One of Darryl’s most notable innovations came in 2017 when he designed a track alignment kit for certain models of the John Deere 20 Series tractors. This design was inspired by his passion for the farming community, supporting farmers saving money by extending the life of their tractor tracks.
Ingenuity comes naturally to Darryl, whose passion for engineering and design comes to the fore in every phase of his work.
